UDINUS ACCOUNTING STUDENTS MUST HAVE PLAN CAREER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE
Wednesday, May 3rd 2017, Accounting Student Association (HMA) held an interactive talk show located in the campus hall of Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) 3rd floor of building E. The theme was "Design Your Future, Discover Your Passion". It is expected that accounting students are prepare to involve in the accounting world after graduation.
There were two speakers in this event; Triyanto, Ak., M.M., M.H, CA, CPA as the Chairman of Sub-Head of Obedience Appraisal, Actuaries, and Other Financial Professions at the Center for Financial Professional Development of the Ministry of Finance and Suhartono, Ak., MPA., CA ., CPA the Chairman of the Certification Board of the Indonesian Institute of Certified Public Accountant (IAPI). The potential of accounting services market in Indonesia is very large except the practices of Public Accountants are still closed. As we know, the number of accountants in Indonesia is smaller than accountants of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
According to PPPK, as April 25th 2017, the number of Public Accounting Firm (KAP) in Indonesia is 407 with 1,239 Public Accountants (AP). "The vacuum should not be released to foreign workers, considering the current MEA has been opened and the accounting profession is included into 8 professions that compete in the MEA," said Triyanto. The competition is harder since the non-accounting graduates take the Accounting Profession Education (PPAk) and take the professional test.
Suhartono agreed the great opportunities. Not only work as an accountant, the accounting graduates can also open their own Accounting Firm (KJA) by following several exams and fulfilling the requirements. "A certified accountant can open KJA to provide non-insurance services or professional accountant in business, accountant educators and public sector accountants.
Students are encouraged to determine career choices as early as possible. The talk show provided an overview for accounting students about the accounting profession in Indonesia and the steps that need to be taken. (* PR)
